Promoting economic development and physical regeneration.

Warrington & Co brings together the private and public sector to promote economic development and physical regeneration in Warrington, under the guidance of a private sector-led board.

Warrington & Co is Warrington’s urban regeneration partnership. Its main function is to steer and monitor the implementation of the regeneration framework, as well as providing a forum for all the key agencies involved in regeneration in the town, both public and private sector, to co-ordinate their activities. A Warrington & Co brand has been developed, which will be used for the marketing and communication activities of the company, the regeneration framework and the wider destination marketing of Warrington.

The creation of more business districts, sustainable neighbourhoods, better transport and IT connectivity and a shift to place rather than product marketing, form an ambitious economic and social development programme for Warrington that will ensure this north west town builds on it successes and continues to enhance its regional role.

History

The trading name for Warrington 2000+, the company was set up in 1991 and was the first of its kind in the country. Over the years it has led a number of campaigns and activities.

  • Operation of the International Business Centre and Xpdia Wireless Telecommunications Incubator.
  • Operation of business led sub-groups – Birchwood Forum and the Town Centre Warrington Partnership.
  • Publication of the Annual Property review, in partnership with Warrington Borough Council and BE Group.
  • Organised, between 1993 and 1999, the annual international trade exhibition – Business Connections.

In late 2008, Warrington 2000+ positively accepted an invitation, from the council, to act as the steering group for the regeneration framework. As a result the company has evolved, significantly expanding and reshaping its board, revising its remit and rebranding to Warrington & Co.
